Grand Opening of the Third World Economic and Environmental Conference in Beijing

On July 29, The Third World Economic and Environmental Conference (WEC), as an important non-government meeting in 2010 in the field of low carbon and environmental protection, pulled open the curtain in Beijing. Shen Longhai, Chairman of Steering Committee of IEEPA, and host of the conference, read out the congratulatory letter from Ablet Abduréshit, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC. Jiang Zhenghua and Cheng Siwei, Deputy Director of the Ninth and Tenth Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, and Co-Chairmen of the conference, respectively gave speeches on "Strengthen International Cooperation to Construct Economic and Environmental Development System" as well as "Green Development Mode and Future Sustainable Development". Zhou Daoqiong, former Chairman of China Security and Futures Regulation Commission and former Governor of China Construction Bank, on behalf of the Organizing Committee of WEC, gave greeting speech, Mohammed Aslam, Minister of National Housing and Environment Ministry of Maldives, Vice Chairman of WEC, made keynote speech on "Response to Global Climate Change is a Common Opportunity".

According to the Organizing Committee, the enrolled number during the opening ceremony or 1 day ahead reached 812, and another 200 enrolled guests will attend the sub-forums in the future, therefore, it is expected that the deputies and guests will exceed 1000 in total.
